The CAD CAM dental is a technological system that leaves the design and preparation of dental prostheses by computer. Through this digital technology we are able to design and manufacture very precise dental restorations and of high quality. The CAD technology (computer-aided design) CAM (dental-assisted manufacturing) is a fundamental step forward in relation to conventional dentistry.

CAD CAM technology consists of three processes:

  1. The scan of the tooth or tooth implant in the model.
  2. The PC design of the aesthetic prosthesis through a three-dimensional software that allows the calculation of the insertion axes, have reference of the opposing model, draw a line in the cervical margin and five hundred percent increments.
  3. Robotic milling or fabrication of the parts from the design information of the prosthesis in a few minutes.

  • The dentist does the carving or preparation of the tooth or implant in the clinic, takes the impressions from the patient’s mouth and makes a plaster model that sends to the laboratory.
  • We use CAD CAM to scan and transfer to the computer the digitized model of the patient’s mouth.
  • With a computer program prostheses are designed on the digitized image of the patient’s mouth
  • Once the teeth have been designed, the order is given to the computer or it begins to mill the zirconium until the tooth has been obtained as it was developed in the PC.
  • The finished tooth is sent by prosthesis to the doctor to be able to put it on the patient. This digital technology is used singularly in the manufacture of crowns, bridges, veneers and sub-structures of titanium or zirconium for rehabilitation and also dental implants.
